Join the Chocorua Lake Conservancy at Runnells Hall in Chocorua for its Annual Meeting with keynote speaker Wendy Scribner of the UNH Cooperative Extension. Learn about the recent work of the CLC and the results of our recent survey, be the first to hear an exciting announcement from the Chocorua Mountain Club, and visit with friends and neighbors at a social hour following the meeting. All are welcome!
Speaker Wendy Scribner will present “A Garden for Wildlife: Natural Landscaping for a Better Backyard.” The program will highlight ways that you can improve your landscaping and gardening practices to provide habitat for different kinds of wildlife. You’ll learn techniques to attract songbirds, mammals, hawks and owls, and even amphibians such as red-backed salamanders to your backyard. There is something special about seeing wildlife on your property and knowing that your landscaping and management efforts are helping provide food and shelter for them. Whether you have a big piece of land or a small parcel, you can provide important opportunities for wildlife to live and thrive.
About the Presenter:
UNH Cooperative Extension Natural Resources Field Specialist Wendy Scribner provides research-based natural resource information and assistance to a wide range of clientele including: private landowners, licensed foresters, members of the logging and forest products industry, municipalities, schools and organizations. She specializes in forestry and wildlife. She provides assistance and information on topics including: managing woodlots, selling timber, enhancing wildlife habitat, controlling invasive plants, and improving forest health and productivity. Wendy is a licensed forester in both NH and Maine and holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Forestry from UNH.
