Stewardship Morning at C.C. Browne

  • Charlotte C. Browne Woods Washington Hill Road United States (map)

Stewardship with trails to wander afterward, and beautiful mixed habitat to explore. Come spend a morning in a beautiful place nurturing fruiting shrubs that in turn provide food and habitat for wildlife.

Please join us on Wednesday, July 20, 9-11AM, for a Stewardship Morning at the south lot at C.C. Browne Woods on Washington Hill Road in Chocorua. We’ll be weeding around fruiting shrubs we’ve planted there to improve habitat for wildlife, and mulching them to help them retain moisture when the weather is dry. Thanks to funding from the Natural Resources Conservation Service, the CLC was able not only to plant fruiting shrubs but also to place nest boxes for bluebirds on this site. Come learn how the CLC is working to enhance wildlife habitat on some of our properties. If there’s time, we might tackle some bittersweet growing along a wall along the edge of one of the fields.

If you are able, please bring some combination of: a shovel; clippers, long-handed clippers, or loppers; a hand saw; a brush cutter; buckets or a wheelbarrow, as well as work gloves, and water and snacks if you like. Be prepared for bugs and ticks just in case.

Feel free to come for all or some of the morning. Please register below to let us know you will be coming so that we can let you know of any changes in the schedule.
